SAYRE — The board of the Community Foundation for the Twin Tiers has announced the recipients of the Northern Potter Scholarship awards.
They are Dylan Foust, who will attend the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science; Josiah Howe, attending Southern Virginia University; and Alexis Adams, attending Slippery Rock University.
The first Foundation scholarship fund for Potter County was established by Foundation board member Wanda Shirk. For now, the Northern Potter Scholarship Fund serves select students graduating from the Northern Potter County School District, but the founders of this fund hope to grow it large enough to someday support to all their graduating seniors.
At the Community Foundation, scholarship funds are established in memory of someone special, or just to give back to the community. Members of the community act to encourage local youth to continue their education, enhancing their ability eventually to provide for their families and give back to their communities.
Contact the foundation at 570-888-4759 or cftt@stny.rr.com to find out more about establishing or donating to a scholarship fund, or see the Foundation website at www.twintierscf.org.
